Welcome to FAWA

Empowering Communities, Enhancing Wellbeing
The French African Welfare Association (FAWA) is a registered charity supporting the global majority communities in the UK in their journey towards better health, education and wellbeing. At FAWA, we place enormous value on the sense of community, collaborative work, partnerships and a common goal, not just because of who we are but because we want everyone to thrive. Our services are for everyone.

FAWA
FAWA began its work more than 20 years ago by helping migrant communities who were struggling to adapt to life in the United Kingdom. Since then, our remit has broadened to include all the black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in the UK. From our two London offices, we offer advocacy and inclusive services around strengthening empowerment and rights, health awareness, access to education, housing, healthcare, and many other forms of social support. Our mission is to build a stronger, more resilient and fully integrated community.

Cost of Living Support
Inflation and the rising cost of goods and services mean many individuals are struggling to make ends meet.
FAWA offers practical support, advice and information that help those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis so they can pay utility bills, rent, or manage their debts better.
Long-Term Health Condition Support
Communities originally from Sub-Saharan Africa are among the UK population groups most affected by HIV and other long-term health conditions.
FAWA offers support to individuals and families so they can live positively and in dignity with their long-term health condition. Beneficiaries also get help with access to care services.
Active Lifestyle & Wellness
FAWA offers physical exercises such as supervised walks, accessible yoga and floor exercises to London residents. An active lifestyle helps maintain a healthy body and mind.
Parenting Support
Nowadays children from Black heritage face many challenges when growing up.
Our project has been delivering parenting skills so parents and carers can offer better guidance and support to their children. The project is being delivered through monthly workshops and one-to-one sessions at venues across London.
Health Advocacy
This project is about helping patients from the black and minority communities in West London access the best NHS services. Our health advocate helps to link patients to appropriate care givers. He also facilitates translation and interpretation for patients who do not speak English.
Protecting the Environment
FAWA has embraced the concept of upcycling in response to London’s growing environmental crisis.Through this programme, we teach skills for transforming old and unwanted household products into new items that can be used again.
